Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
Located in Livermore, Calif., the National Ignition Facility’s laser and target area building is 10 stories tall and the size of three football fields. Inside this building researchers are making the latest attempt to fuse two nuclei into one, with the goal of tapping into the boundless energy that powers the sun and stars.
