Dust clouds over
the Arabian Sea
NASA’s Aqua satellite recently took this image of dust plumes blowing off the desert coast of Iran and Pakistan into the Arabian Sea. The plumes, originating in a sparsely populated region inhabited mainly by Baluchi tribesmen, traveled hundreds of miles over water on strong northerly winds. At left is the eastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula and the nation of Oman.
