McCain and PalinDiffer Sharply on Global Warming

Republican presidential nominee, Sen. John McCain, and his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, hold starkly contrasting views on the causes of global warming and what should be done to combat it, the Washington Post reports. While McCain has said unequivocally that human activity is driving the current warming trend and has proposed a concerted program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Palin has said she does not believe man is causing climate change and has not made reducing greenhouse gas emissions a priority. While acknowledging that Alaska is warming rapidly, she has focused on adapting to climate change rather than preventing it and said in an interview last month, “I’m not one though who would attribute it to being man-made.” Palin later disavowed that statement.
