Robert N. Proctor is Professor of the History of Science at Stanford, where he is also a courtesy professor of pulmonary medicine. He is the author of Racial Hygiene: Medicine Under the Nazis and Golden Holocaust: Origins of the Cigarette Catastrophe and the Case for Abolition. Londa Schiebinger is the John L. Hinds Professor of History of Science at Stanford University and founding director of Gendered Innovations in Science, Health & Medicine, Engineering, and Environment. Her prize-winning books include Nature’s Body: Gender in the Making of Modern Science and Plants and Empire: Colonial Bioprospecting in the Atlantic World.
