Thomas Easley is assistant dean of community and inclusion at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, where he helps strengthen community diversity and develops programming around workplace equity. He is also a hip hop artist who performs under the name RaShad Eas. This essay is based on a chapter he wrote for the book, A Better Planet: 40 Big Ideas for a Sustainable Future.
